Nicknamed
the "Venice of the Berry",
Argenton-sur-Creuse is
a small, welcoming town,
engaging and friendly,
where the pace of life
moves in harmony with the
waters of the river.
Strolling
down its pretty streets,
you'll eventually arrive
via the rue Grande at the
old bridge, from which
you can see the mills,
one of whose wheels continues
to turn, and the tangle
of galleried houses with
wooden balustrades and
coppered roofs which seem
to lean over the waters
of the Creuse. After short
pauses at the Saint-Saveur
church and the chapel of
Saint-Benoît, you can make
a picturesque ascent of
the rue de la Coursière,
at the top of which you'll
have a panoramic view of
the entire town.
